Suffering a headache is something quite common in our lives and, on many occasions, the reasons for it being triggered are usually quite simple: stress during a difficult time at work or at university, having stayed up too late or spending a lot of time exposed to the sun. But there are other kinds of scenarios that can occur as some women suffer pathological episodes related to headaches frequently.
Common causes that trigger headaches
The factor that most frequently causes headaches is muscle tension. Tension headaches occur when the muscles that surround the head, such as the shoulders, neck, scalp, or jaw, become excessively tense or contract. In this class of headaches, the discomfort is characterized by being mild and constant, feeling a slight pressure in the area of the temples, the forehead or the head itself. Another very common type of headache is the one that appears linked to common viral processes such as colds or flu.
According to the studies that have been carried out in this regard, the most frequent causes of headaches, apart from those already mentioned, are the following: lack of sleep, taking a long trip, loud and constant noises, alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, spending a long time in front of a screen without resting, dehydration, stress and skipping one of the five meals a day recommended by both nutritionists and doctors. If the ailment presents as a throbbing and acute discomfort, it may be due to a migraine process. Migraines are pains as common as tension headaches, although their impact on us is greater since they become incapacitating us to perform any task.
Frequent headaches, when they are not linked to a more serious pathology, can be easily solved through adequate rest, a balanced diet, a healthy lifestyle or moderate sports activity. If we have to constantly resort to drugs to relieve migraines, it is preferable to consult a doctor beforehand.
