False Myths about Headaches: running removes a Hangover

A hangover is one of the worst results after a night out in which we have ingested alcohol or simply after a dinner in which we have had more wine or beer than we should. A hangover is a fairly strong headache that translates into a general malaise that makes us spend the day between bed and sofa. Regarding this consequence of drinking alcohol, we are presented with a wide variety of false myths and legends. Like for example that beer cures a hangover, which is completely false, and that running is beneficial to alleviate it, an incorrect statement, in the same way.

Going for a run does not relieve a hangover

For the hangover to disappear, all you need is one thing: patience. There are many magical recipes that are proposed to us to overcome the hangover day. One of the most popular is the intake of beer as a total cure. It is a false myth that has been passed from generation to generation until reaching our days. And it is false precisely because if we have exceeded the alcohol limit we cannot continue drinking more the next day, if we want to feel well at all.

Another of the wonderful remedies that has been believed to be real until now is that running helps relieve hangovers. Nothing is further from reality. It has always been thought that exercising to sweat was good for eliminating alcohol and making discomfort disappear. This is not so, the opposite occurs. Most of the alcohol that we have taken during the night is metabolized by the liver, which is why we do not usually sweat more than 2% of the total. In addition, exposing yourself to the sun and exercising excessive is not beneficial, in fact it is quite dangerous for our health. After going out to a party or drinking large amounts of alcohol, we will be dehydrated and high temperatures increase dehydration. The best thing for these days, difficult to carry, is that we rest as much as possible and that we drink a lot of water, in this way we will gradually hydrate ourselves, which is what the body needs the most.
