The headaches that we eventually suffer are usually appeased through the typical over-the-counter medications that we can find in our usual pharmacies, such as aspirin or ibuprofen. However, although these are really annoying, there is another class of headaches that can occur frequently, from the time we get up until we go to bed at night.
Given the potential seriousness of these pathologies, doctors are more persistently exploring the factors that can develop them. In fact, in this regard, some studies have established tension headaches as a serious symptom of depression.
Headaches related to emotional factors
Daily stress, anxiety and excessive emotional tension, in fact, can lead to a deep depression that affects us psychologically. The symptoms that this disease produces are not easy to detect and, normally, if the doctor who sees us is not a specialist, it is likely that they will be misinterpreted. Obviously, these pathologies are influenced by a large number of factors that can be decisive: the patient’s psychological history, marital status, social ties, habits, personality, stress situations or even factors of a physical nature.
The bodily symptoms that excess emotional tension can present or, where appropriate, its derivation into depression present a wide variety, although the most predominant are the following: sleeping problems, eating difficulties, chronic body pain and, of course, constant headaches. _ These can last as little as a few minutes or persist for up to 48 hours. Throughout the course of the headache, the intensity of the pain can fluctuate from the most acute to the most severe.
For obvious reasons, and given the nature of these pathologies, the drugs that are usually prescribed by specialists can only be purchased by prescription. Among them, and in order to avoid the generation of constant headaches, we can find tricyclic antidepressants, monoamine oxidase blockers and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
