Headache is usually a physical manifestation that may have several factors that cause its triggering. This is the case of chronic diseases or pathologies with an acute and occasional nature. Migraines can also be exacerbated due to an inappropriate lifestyle, which can be negatively influenced by the fact that we are carrying out a food routine that is not suitable for our body. There is no scientific evidence that certifies food as a determining cause for the generation of migraines, however there is a tendency to negatively assess certain products such as sausages.
Influence of sausages on the development of headaches
The case of sausages and cold cuts is usually quite mentioned due, above all, to some additives that are used in their production, specifically we refer to nitrates and nitrites. These antimicrobial additives also appear in other foods such as ready meals or some green leafy vegetables such as chard or spinach. The fact is that both nitrates and nitrites are not counterproductive to the human body by themselves, but a high amount of them can lead us to suffer from poisoning, and with it the usual symptoms of these anomalies appear: headaches, nausea and vomiting.
Specifically, both cold cuts and packaged meats have added nitrites and nitrates with the aim of having greater efficiency in the conservation of the products. Therefore, the fact that an occasional abuse of these products can cause us food poisoning that is accompanied by parallel symptoms such as headaches is within the possibilities.
However, the simple fact of eating a healthy and balanced diet will prevent the use of these additives in certain products such as sausages from being definitely harmful to our body. A varied diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, dairy products, white meat and fish, will allow our body to more effectively combat any anomaly of this type that may lead to the generation of headaches.
