Although the headache itself can be symptomatic of the development of a more serious pathology, it can also be considered an abnormality itself caused by one of the many factors that trigger it. One of them, which is associated with the generation of very intense headaches and migraines, has to do with the consumption of some foods that are common in any woman’s diet. Among the products indicated we find blue cheese, bananas, sausages or nuts. An American group of researchers estimates that the origin is found in tyramine, a chemical substance that is present in all these foods.
The abuse of nuts leads to the generation of headaches
One of the effects that tyramine has in our body is that of the dilation of the cerebral arteries, a process that, by itself, is capable of not only accelerating the appearance of a headache but also aggravating its symptoms. The foods with the greatest presence of this substance are fermented foods -cheese-, dried fruits -especially walnuts-, oily fish and chicken liver. Tyramine is produced from the breakdown of an amino acid, so it is also possible to find it in expired and canned foods. It is also contained in some alcoholic beverages such as beer, vermouth or red wine.
According to studies that have been carried out in recent times, the relationship between the generation of headaches or migraines and diet is very high in women, although other factors such as insomnia are also determining factors in the appearance of this class of ailments. The fact that walnuts, or any of the foods mentioned, are capable of developing this type of abnormality in our body does not mean that we should completely eliminate them from our diet, but rather that it is important to dose their intake in moderate amounts.
To counteract the negative effects of excessive consumption of nuts, we can seek the support of a nutritionist to get advice on a diet that is balanced and healthy. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables will help our body feel healthier and, therefore, avoid numerous health problems related to headaches.
